On May 30th, 2018, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine approved the National Transport Strategy for the period till 2030 – “Drive Ukraine 2030”.
Strategy defines the development of transport and infrastructure industries for the next 12 years. The document is ambitiously qualified as a “great infrastructure revolution” that will bring Ukraine to a new level of transport and related infrastructure quality.
According to Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Volodymyr Omelyan, the strategic goal is to integrate Ukraine into the world economy with a technological leap in the field of infrastructure.
“Strategy-2030 is not about transport. Strategy-2030 is about modern Ukraine, about a developed strong state, about people for whom we have created the best. It is our duty and our work”, – said Volodymyr Omelyan.
Drive Ukraine-2030 is a strategy of transforming Ukraine into a developed, high-tech and innovative country due to the development of transport and infrastructure, the use of advanced technologies.
Within the context of cooperation of the International Standardization Academy with the United Nations Environment Program on the development of recommendations for fuel economy and sustainable transport in Ukraine, it should be noted that the Strategy-2030 sets the foundation for the use of energy efficient and environmental vehicles, the use of alternative fuels, “green” transport, priority for the needs of environmental protection and conservation of valuable protected areas during the development of transport infrastructure.
